Privacy policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.

This is a working draft prepared for review. It reflects how the platform actually operates, but it has not yet been reviewed by a qualified lawyer and should not be relied on as legal advice.

1. Overview

This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use Pakistan Freelancers, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and the control you have over it.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

2. What we collect

We collect only what the platform needs to work:

  • Account data — name, email address and password hash, created when you sign up.
  • Profile data — profession, skills, rate, bio, location, portfolio images and anything else you choose to publish.
  • Verification data — the identity document you submit for a verified badge, if you request one.
  • Messages — the content of conversations you have with other users on the platform.
  • Technical data — IP address, browser type, device and pages visited, used for security and to fix problems.

3. How we use it

To create and run your account, display your profile and gigs to other users, deliver messages, verify identity where you ask us to, detect fraud and abuse, respond to support requests, and improve the platform.

We do not use your messages to train advertising profiles, and we do not read private conversations except where necessary to investigate a report of abuse or fraud.

4. What is public

Your profile, gigs, portfolio, ratings and reviews are public and visible to anyone, including search engines. Your email address, phone number and identity documents are never shown publicly.

Treat anything you put in a public field as published. Do not put your CNIC number, bank details or home address in a bio or gig description.

5. Who we share it with

We share data only with the service providers we need to operate:

  • Supabase — authentication, database and file storage hosting.
  • Vercel — application hosting and delivery.
  • Law enforcement or regulators, where we are legally required to.

6. Storage and security

Data is stored on managed infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. Passwords are hashed and never stored in readable form. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it to run the service.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data we will notify you promptly and tell you what happened.

7. How long we keep it

Account and profile data is kept while your account is open. When you delete your account, your profile and gigs are removed immediately and the underlying records are deleted within 30 days.

Identity documents submitted for verification are deleted once verification is complete. Limited records may be retained longer where required for legal, tax or fraud-prevention purposes.

8. Your rights

You can, at any time:

  • Access and export the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct anything inaccurate, from Settings.
  • Delete your account and the data attached to it.
  • Object to a particular use of your data by writing to us.

9. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to keep the platform secure. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
